Integrating Sports Themes into Your Restaurants

Some of the most popular restaurants are ones that integrate sports into them. Hi, my name is Jules, and while traveling all over the world, I saw sports integrated into a variety of restaurants. I saw crowds of Middle Easterners watching football around an old TV, Americans cheering for American football teams while munching on wings and other expressions of sport fandom in restaurants. Through it all, I have learned a great deal and come up with several ideas. Now, that I am no longer travelling, I decided to write about my experiences. If you own a restaurant and want to improve it by adding sports into it, please explore these ideas and blog posts.

Top Tips When Designing A Restaurant Menu

Do you own a restaurant? A well-designed menu can attract clients into your establishment and improve your sales. Below are some tips to help you design your restaurant menu.

Other than the regular foods, the menu should have some unique dishes that will make your restaurant stand out. Below are some tips to help you create your specials:

  • The specials should be in line with the theme of your restaurant. For example, if you run a fast-food café, it could be a hotdog, burger or chicken.
  • The special should be reasonably priced. If it is too expensive, your customers will not order.
  • Use locally available ingredients. Hard to source ingredients may not be available all year round.
  • You may want to avoid very spicy foods since some people are allergic to certain spices.
  • Include complimentary items to increase customer spending. For instance, you could recommend a specific wine or dessert to customers that purchase the special.

The size of your kitchen and restaurant staffing will determine the number of foods you should have on your menu. Remember, most customers will want their meals prepared in a few minutes. If the service takes too long, you may lose some of your clients. Customers could have trouble choosing a meal if the menu has too many items.

Divide the menu into various sections highlighting the different classes of foods. Typically, you should have a snacks section, breakfast items, main meals (meats and vegetarian foods) and drinks (juices, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks). Additionally, you should include a brief description of the foods on sale. For instance, if you sell steak, inform your customers whether it is rare, medium or well-done. If possible, you could also include the amount of time it takes to prepare the meals.

The menu should be easy to read. A large font and high contrast colours ensure everyone can read the menu. The design of the menu can encourage customers to order specific meals. For example, you could include appealing photos of your specials or the most profitable foods on the cover of the menu. More often than not, customers will order out of curiosity.

The menu should have a header with your restaurant name, logo, contacts and social media pages. Remember to update your menu to include new dishes or a change in the price structure.

When designing a restaurant menu, include unique dishes, limit the number of foods, create sections for the various foods and go for an easy to read format.
